Providing occupational therapy services within a school setting, this contract position offers an opportunity to support students with diverse needs through both direct intervention and consultation.
Located in Shelbyville, TN, the role requires in-person engagement across four different schools, primarily focused on serving students referred for occupational therapy or sensory evaluations. The position averages three days per week at seven hours per day, with potential for increased hours if referral numbers grow. Services will be delivered from the first week of February through late spring, concluding shortly before the school year ends.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting initial and re-evaluations of students referred for OT or sensory assessments
- Directly serving approximately 11 students across multiple school sites
- Providing consultation and support services to teachers and school teams for an additional caseload of 15-20 students
- Participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and multidisciplinary support team discussions to ensure comprehensive care and goal setting
- Collaborating with educators to integrate OT strategies to promote student success
Preferred experience and qualifications:
- Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience working within school settings providing OT services
- Skilled in conducting evaluations and developing student-centered intervention plans
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with educators, students, and families
- Flexibility and adaptability in managing caseloads across multiple school locations
