Behavioral Specialist in School Setting - Anoka, Minnesota

Must have completed Behavior Specialist / ABA Therapy training and have a minimum 1 years Behavior Therapy experience. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for an Onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) to support elementary schools in the Anoka, MN area during the 2025-2026 school year. This contract position operates approximately from January 5 to June 5, 2026, with a typical schedule of 18.75 hours per week between 8:30 AM and 4:10 PM.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with another BIS and Special Education Administrator to implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) within the district.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments to guide intervention planning.
• Develop and help implement individualized education plans, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and district regulations.
• Provide training and consultation to staff on behavioral strategies and interventions.
• Support students by reinforcing positive behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques, and redirecting inappropriate behaviors; may be required to apply restrictive procedures when necessary.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
• Use data-driven approaches to inform program adjustments and student progress.
• Demonstrate flexibility and calmness during crisis situations.
• Adhere to all School Board policies and administrative procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

Qualifications:

• Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Special Education Teacher with a tier 3 or 4 license.
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification does not qualify.
• Experience with functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention planning.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to manage multiple elementary school sites, including Ramsey, Madison, Rum River, and Jefferson Elementary Schools.

Location:Anoka, Minnesota, supporting multiple district elementary schools within the Anoka-Hennepin district.
