An opportunity is available for an Onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) to support elementary schools in the Anoka, MN area during the 2025-2026 school year. This contract position operates approximately from January 5 to June 5, 2026, with a typical schedule of 18.75 hours per week between 8:30 AM and 4:10 PM.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with another BIS and Special Education Administrator to implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) within the district.
- Conduct functional behavior assessments to guide intervention planning.
- Develop and help implement individualized education plans, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and district regulations.
- Provide training and consultation to staff on behavioral strategies and interventions.
- Support students by reinforcing positive behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques, and redirecting inappropriate behaviors; may be required to apply restrictive procedures when necessary.
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
- Use data-driven approaches to inform program adjustments and student progress.
- Demonstrate flexibility and calmness during crisis situations.
- Adhere to all School Board policies and administrative procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Special Education Teacher with a tier 3 or 4 license.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification does not qualify.
- Experience with functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention planning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple elementary school sites, including Ramsey, Madison, Rum River, and Jefferson Elementary Schools.
Location:Anoka, Minnesota, supporting multiple district elementary schools within the Anoka-Hennepin district.
