Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cisco Network Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team in Princeton, NJ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting complex Cisco-based network infrastructures across our organization. This role requires strong technical expertise in Cisco routing, switching, firewalls, wireless technologies, and network monitoring tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy LAN/WAN and wireless infrastructure using Cisco technologies.
- Manage and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches (Catalyst/Nexus), firewalls (ASA/Firepower), and VPN devices.
- Monitor network performance, perform regular system maintenance, and ensure high availability.
- Implement and manage network security protocols, VLANs, ACLs, and VPNs.
- Collaborate with system administrators, security engineers, and application teams to support enterprise IT services.
- Document network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in network capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity efforts.
- Respond to and resolve network outages and performance issues on a 24/7 on-call rotation basis.
- 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer with hands-on Cisco hardware and software.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, HSRP, etc.).
- Experience with Cisco ASA, Firepower NGFW, and VPN solutions.
- Hands-on experience with wireless technologies (Cisco WLC, APs).
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow, etc.).
- Knowledge of network security best practices and compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Scripting knowledge (Python, Ansible) for network automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
