Job Title: Mainframe Migration ConsultantLocation: New York, NYJob type: ContractProject OverviewThe purpose of this project is to support all mainframe database and application needs (Adabas and Natural), including legacy applications such as PIMS, FITS, and PMS. These applications support asset, defect, and work order management systems used to manage streets, parking, and other infrastructure assets.ResponsibilitiesRun existing daily, bi-weekly, and monthly reports for all mainframe applications; create new reports as requiredResolve application program issues and data errors reported by end usersDevelop new ETL jobs and monitor existing jobs to support enterprise data-sharing needsUpgrade applications and programs in alignment with infrastructure and software upgradesCollaborate with IT development teams to migrate and integrate legacy modules with modern asset management systemsWork closely with business analysts, subject matter experts, and development teams during design, development, testing, implementation, and support phasesParticipate in software testing activities, including defect identification and resolutionSupport rollout and deployment strategiesParticipate in technical reviews, walkthroughs, and presentationsUnderstand application architecture, network design, performance considerations, and security frameworksAnalyze complex technical problems and recommend effective solutionsResearch, evaluate, and present recommendations on technical issues and improvementsEncourage innovation by exploring new ideas and initiativesIncorporate feedback from reporting managers and stakeholdersProvide accurate estimates for development and migration tasksCollaborate effectively with cross-functional and diverse teamsBuild and maintain strong working relationships with team membersMandatory Skills & ExperienceMinimum 4 years of hands-on experience in mainframe technologies beyond entry-level rolesStrong experience with:Natural programming (v8.7, v9, NaturalOne)AdabasMVSTSO, JCL, ISPF commandsxmitipSAS v9.3 (Mainframe)COBOLExperience supporting legacy mainframe applications and reporting systemsMinimum 5 years of professional experience in technology or application development/support rolesPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a technology-related field or equivalent experience5 years of experience across the mandatory technical skill setStrong communication, documentation, and presentation skillsProven ability to work as a team lead or senior contributor on multiple projectsStrong understanding of business requirements and delivery estimationExperience working across multiple platforms, tools, and development methodologies
