The Prince George’s County Department of Family Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Division Manager, (Community Services Manager-G) grade G-31 position, in the Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Division.

About The Position

This position involves highly responsible managerial and administrative work in support of the Director or other higher-level officials. The Community Services Manager will be primarily responsible for directing and managing the overall activities of the Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Division. This role includes supervising, planning, coordinating, and appraising the activities of professional, para-professional, and clerical staff to achieve the division's program goals, priorities and performance metrics. This role will also be responsible for the development and implementation of best practices, key strategies and key programming to enhance the domestic violence programs currently in place.

About The Agency

The Department of Family Services improves the quality of life and overall well-being of the communities by providing information, assistance and referrals, as well as promoting and developing high quality, innovative programs that educate, empower, respect choice and preserve dignity. The department is responsible for providing assistance to some of the County’s most vulnerable citizens – children, families, victims of domestic violence, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans, and seniors. The department is comprised of three divisions that serve the aging and disabled, victims of domestic violence, as well as children, youth and families in need of support and resources.

Examples of Work

  • Assists in the coordination of services and programs for individuals impacted by domestic violence, human trafficking, or sexual assault.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify service gaps and develop programs to meet community needs.
  • Advocates for victims of intimate partner violence, domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault.
  • Works with grant partners to create strong community collaborations with survivor-specific service organizations.
  • Creates and implements an outreach strategy to better identify and engage trafficked persons, especially those who are homeless, undocumented, and otherwise vulnerable.
  • Conducts intake and service needs assessments with potential or identified survivors, providing comprehensive support services.
  • Participates in task force and programming meetings for domestic violence and human trafficking in Prince George’s County.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with court personnel, law enforcement, county agencies, and community organizations.
  • Ensures timely completion of all reporting, budget documentation and collaborative requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business or public administration or related field.
  • Five (5) years of related work experience with three (3) years in a managerial capacity.

Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.

Please note there is no equivalency for the required supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in domestic violence and human trafficking and community services.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent budget management and grant writing skills.
  • Effective communication and public speaking abilities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of personnel laws and union agreements.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and implement comprehensive domestic violence programs and services.

  • Effective fiscal management and resource allocation.
  • Compliance with personnel policies and union agreements.
  • Successful staff supervision and development.
  • Effective community and stakeholder engagement.
