As the company scales its portfolio of natural gas generation assets, Prime Power is committed to developing long-term fuel procurement strategies and integrating responsible carbon management solutions that position the company for growth in an evolving energy and regulatory landscape.

As demand for secure, efficient, and lower carbon power increases, we are generating the framework for the future by leading with our services and proficiency. We know what it takes to lead successful projects from start to finish. We bring speed, agility, and an owner’s mindset to meet energy needs. Prime Power Inc. designs, builds, and operates power generation systems that deliver always-on electricity for data centers and mission-critical infrastructure. Our solutions provide utility-independent reliability, faster deployment timelines, and long-term cost certainty.

Position Overview

Prime Power Inc. is seeking a Director of Gas Procurement & Carbon Strategy to lead two interconnected and critical functions within the company: natural gas fuel procurement for our growing generation portfolio and the development and implementation of carbon capture and emissions reduction strategies for natural gas power projects.

This is a senior, highly strategic role that sits at the intersection of commodity markets, infrastructure development, and emerging decarbonization technology. The Director will be responsible for securing gas supply and delivery for Prime Power’s pipeline of projects while simultaneously building out the company’s carbon capture capabilities and positioning Prime Power as a leader in low-carbon natural gas power generation.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in natural gas markets and pipeline infrastructure with a forward-looking understanding of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies and the regulatory and commercial frameworks that support them. Experience engaging with midstream operators, gas marketers, technology developers, and environmental regulators is essential.

The candidate will be joining a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where contributions directly shape company strategy and growth. As a smaller, growing team, Prime Power may ask the candidate to perform some duties outside of the listed responsibilities below.

Key Responsibilities

Natural Gas Procurement & Fuel Supply Strategy

•         Identify, evaluate, and negotiate natural gas supply agreements with pipelines, LDCs, gas marketers, producers, and midstream operators to secure reliable and cost-competitive fuel supply

•         Assess fuel supply feasibility during early-stage project siting, including proximity to interstate and intrastate pipelines, distribution system capacity, and interconnection requirements

•         Lead coordination with natural gas pipeline operators and local distribution companies (LDCs) to advance lateral connections, capacity reservations, and service agreements

•         Collaborate with external consultants to assess natural gas market conditions and supply reliability across Prime Power’s target geographies to pinpoint where to prospect

•         Evaluate alternative fuel supply options including compressed natural gas (CNG), renewable natural gas (RNG), and hydrogen blending as supplemental or future fuel strategies

•         Maintain and grow a network of relationships with midstream companies, gas marketers, producers, and pipeline operators across key U.S. natural gas markets

Carbon Capture Technology Development

•         Lead Prime Power’s carbon capture strategy, identifying, evaluating, and advancing CCUS technology solutions appropriate for distributed natural gas generation applications

•         Research and assess the landscape of post-combustion carbon capture technologies applicable to Prime Power’s generation asset types

•         Identify and cultivate relationships with CCUS technology developers, equipment vendors, and research institutions to evaluate commercially viable carbon capture solutions

•         Lead feasibility assessments for carbon capture integration at natural gas generation sites, including technical performance modeling, cost estimation, and permitting pathway analysis

•         Evaluate CO₂ transport and sequestration options, including Class VI injection well permitting, CO₂ pipeline access, and geological storage partnerships

•         Assess opportunities for carbon utilization and offtake, including industrial CO₂ buyers, enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications, and emerging synthetic fuels markets

•         Stay current on the state of CCUS policy, DOE programs, tax incentive structures (including 45Q and related provisions), and evolving regulations at both federal and state levels

Regulatory, Policy & Incentive Strategy

•         Track and interpret evolving federal and state regulations related to carbon emissions, greenhouse gas reporting, and clean energy standards as they apply to natural gas generation assets

•         Develop and maintain Prime Power’s strategy for capturing available incentives including Section 45Q tax credits, DOE loan programs, IRA clean energy provisions, and state-level carbon programs

•         Engage with regulatory agencies, EPA, DOE, and state environmental bodies on permitting and compliance matters related to carbon capture projects

•         Evaluate the implications of carbon markets, voluntary carbon offsets, and emissions trading programs on Prime Power’s project economics and long-term portfolio strategy

•         Coordinate with legal counsel on environmental compliance, carbon credit certification, and contract structures for carbon offtake and storage agreements

Commercial & Project Economics

•         Assist in developing financial models and proforma inputs that reflect fuel cost assumptions, carbon capture capital and operating costs, and applicable incentive revenues for natural gas generation projects

•         Evaluate the economics of carbon capture integration at various project scales, providing recommendations on technology selection and project configuration to optimize returns

•         Support project financing activities by providing detailed gas supply and carbon strategy documentation to lenders, investors, and offtakers

•         Identify and structure commercial partnerships with CCUS developers, CO₂ offtakers, and technology providers that de-risk Prime Power’s carbon strategy investments

Stakeholder Engagement & Thought Leadership

•         Represent Prime Power at industry conferences, regulatory forums, and stakeholder meetings related to natural gas markets, carbon capture, and clean energy policy

•         Prepare executive-level presentations and strategy documents on gas procurement and carbon strategy for company leadership, investors, and external partners

Required Qualifications

•         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, Finance, or a related technical or business field; advanced degree preferred

•         5 years of experience in the natural gas industry, energy development, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in gas procurement, midstream, or fuel supply management

•         Strong understanding of natural gas markets, pipeline infrastructure, LDC tariffs, capacity reservation structures, and fuel supply agreements

•         Working knowledge of carbon capture technologies (post-combustion, DAC, or equivalent) and the commercial and regulatory landscape for CCUS in the United States

•         Familiarity with Section 45Q tax credits, IRA clean energy incentive structures, and DOE carbon capture funding programs

•         Demonstrated ability to develop and negotiate commercial agreements including gas supply contracts, transportation agreements, and technology partnerships

•         Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; ability to evaluate project economics incorporating fuel costs, capital expenditures, and incentive revenues

Preferred Qualifications

•         Experience working directly with natural gas pipeline operators, midstream companies, or LDCs on capacity reservation, interconnection, or fuel supply agreements

•         Hands-on experience developing or advancing a CCUS project, including technology selection, permitting, or CO₂ offtake negotiation

•         Familiarity with Class VI well permitting under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and EPA Underground Injection Control (UIC) program requirements

•         Knowledge of renewable natural gas (RNG) markets, biogas supply chains, and hydrogen blending as complementary fuel strategies

•         Background in natural gas-fired power generation, distributed energy, or combined heat and power (CHP) applications

•         Experience with voluntary carbon markets, carbon credit certification standards (e.g., Gold Standard, Verra VCS), and carbon offtake agreements

•         Established relationships with CCUS technology developers, CO₂ pipeline operators, sequestration partners, or DOE national laboratories

What We Offer

•         Competitive base salary commensurate with experience

•         Performance-based bonus

•         Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance options

•         Professional development and continuing education support

•         Opportunity to shape strategy at a dynamic, fast-growing energy company

Location and Travel

Preferred to be located in Houston-area and hybrid arrangement (1 day in office per week after June). The role requires periodic travel to project sites, OEM facilities, and industry events across the United States. Travel is estimated at 20–30% annually, depending on project activity.
