Primary Services is recruiting for a large, established organization seeking an experienced Senior Trading Accountant to support financial reporting, trade settlement accounting, and month-end close activities. The Accountant will collaborate with finance and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and drive process improvements across accounting operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reports.
- Prepare and monitor intercompany billings, receivable balances, and payable balances.
- Support trade settlement accounting by preparing payment requests and reconciling subledger, cash, and intercompany transactions.
- Process cash application activities and ensure accurate recording of cash transactions.
- Analyze financial results and investigate account variances.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and financial analyses.
- Participate in accounting process improvements, system implementations, and special projects.
- Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Provide backup support for critical accounting functions as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the energy, commodity trading, or trading industry.
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of trade settlement accounting and intercompany accounting processes.
- Proficiency with SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience preparing financial analyses and variance reporting.
- Knowledge of cash accounting and cash application processes.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles.
- Experience participating in accounting system implementations or process improvement initiatives is preferred.
