Primary Services is excited to announce the role of Equipment and Service Manager for a large-scale industrial operations client managing complex field logistics and asset-intensive operations. In this position, the Equipment and Service Manager will oversee the maintenance, repair, compliance, and readiness of a broad fleet including diesel trucks, trailers, leased equipment, and fuel storage and monitoring systems. This role requires coordinating internal technicians, external vendors, and cross-functional operational teams in a high-volume, safety-focused environment. The Equipment and Service Manager ensures assets remain compliant, reliable, and cost-effective while supporting uninterrupted field operations for a major enterprise organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and develop service technicians, mechanics, and support staff.
- Coordinate daily maintenance schedules and prioritize work based on operational demands.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.
- Manage repairs for diesel trucks, trailers, and all company-owned, leased, or rented equipment.
- Direct installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of tank monitoring and fuel system equipment.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and FMCSA regulations across all fleet operations.
- Conduct inspections of vehicles, equipment, and maintenance facilities to ensure safety and performance standards.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection documentation, and asset tracking systems.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing for parts, repairs, and contracted services.
- Develop and manage the fleet maintenance budget and monitor ongoing expenditures.
- Evaluate equipment condition and recommend repair, replacement, or capital investment decisions.
- Track KPIs including downtime, maintenance cost trends, repair frequency, and vendor performance.
- Review and approve service invoices and maintenance agreements for accuracy and cost control.
- Support incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive maintenance actions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical certification in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment maintenance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of diesel mechanic or fleet maintenance experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or fleet management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment diagnostics.
- Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets, fuel-related equipment, or industrial assets preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT compliance standards and fleet regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, vendor contracts, and parts inventory systems.
- Ability to interpret maintenance data, service reports, and technical documentation.
Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
