Job Title: Lab Assistant
Location: Marlborough, MA 01752
Shift/Time Zone: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Pay Rate: $18.63 - $23.00/hr (Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.) The rate is based on years of DIRECT EXPERIENCE as listed in the resume.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort, receive, and process incoming specimens in the department.
- Prepare specimens for testing, including aliquoting, labeling, slide preparation, inoculation, and building worklists.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and assist with laboratory equipment upkeep.
- Centrifuge specimens, print labels, maintain specimen storage/retrieval, and record data such as temperature logs.
- Prepare reagents and media as required in the department.
- Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples.
- Perform QA/QC duties as assigned.
- Decontaminate work areas and dispose of biohazardous materials safely.
- Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests.
- Maintain department records and files.
- Change gas cylinders and follow all PPE and safety regulations.
- Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs efficiently.
- Complete required training and competency checklists.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant training preferred.
- Math and science coursework preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- No prior experience required.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Strong ability to retain learned information.
- Professional communication skills with coworkers and internal/external customers.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
