Accounting Control Specialist

Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (30-minute lunch)
7-Month Temporary Assignment (Potential for Extension)
Premier Staffing Source, Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounting Control Specialist to support the Finance Team at the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH).
This role provides specialized financial management and reconciliation support, focusing on grant accounting, financial reporting, and fiscal close activities. The ideal candidate brings strong governmental accounting knowledge and experience working with complex financial data and reporting systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities
- Reconcile grants, budgets, and financial transactions across multiple accounts
- Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Support federal grant reporting and cost management
- Verify balances in asset and liability accounts
- Ensure proper recording of interagency and interfund transactions
- Prepare financial reports, projections, and reconciliations
- Document financial processes to support continuity and compliance
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional-level experience in financial analysis, accounting, or financial administration
- Experience performing reconciliations and financial reporting
- Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and budget management
- Ability to analyze large data sets and resolve discrepancies
- Experience with ERP or financial systems (Workday preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with federal grant accounting and reconciliations
- Experience in public sector or government finance environments
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
