Role Overview
The Senior Accounting Manager will serve as a key contributor within the finance organization, participating heavily in the monthly close process, managing our outsourced bookkeeping team, and leading the implementation of tech-forward processes throughout the accounting life cycle. Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Reporting
- Participate heavily in the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP
- Review and analyze financial statements to identify discrepancies, trends, and areas requiring attention
- Prepare and present financial reports and variance analyses to senior leadership
- Maintain and continuously improve the integrity of financial data
- Establish processes that secure timely month-end close
Manage Accounts Payable Team
- Assign workloads and set performance expectations
- Review work for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure that invoice turnaround goals are met
- Develop and enforce workflows for three-way match within Ramp
- Implement invoice approval within Ramp
- Track and report KPIs (invoice turnaround time, error rates, etc.)
- Handle escalations, resolve billing discrepancies, prevent duplicate payments and fraud
Outsourced Team & Partner Management
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact and manager for the outsourced bookkeeping team, ensuring accountability and quality of deliverables
- Set clear expectations, review work product, and drive continuous improvement across outsourced functions
Technology & Process Innovation
- Lead the adoption and optimization of accounting technology within our tech stack, including Sage Intacct, Ramp, and third-party reporting and modeling tools
- Champion the use of AI tools for invoice processing, bookkeeping automation, and financial reporting — focused on innovation and process leadership, not heads-down execution
- Identify opportunities to streamline and modernize accounting workflows through technology, driving efficiency and scalability
- Evaluate and implement new tools that enhance the overall accounting and finance function
Financial Analysis & Controls
- Perform financial analysis including review of financial statements, budget-to-actual comparisons, and identification of anomalies or risks
- Support the development and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance
- Assist in preparation of materials for audits, board reporting, and investor-facing financial packages
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience,
- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct — must be proficient in system navigation, reporting, and configuration
- Experience with Ramp, including implementation of spend controls, bill pay, and other Ramp functionality
- Advanced Excel skills, and demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted tools within Excel
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Demonstrated experience managing outsourced teams or third-party accounting service providers
- Proven ability to analyze financial statements and identify discrepancies, trends, and risks
Preferred
- Experience in a high-growth startup or healthcare/life sciences environment
- Familiarity with AI-powered accounting and finance tools (e.g., for invoice processing, bookkeeping automation, or financial planning)
- Experience with third-party financial reporting, modeling, or BI tools
- Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

- Salary Range: The anticipated base salary range for this role is $110,000-$140,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, and location.
