Overview:
We’re seeking a strategic and detail-orientated Inventory Control Manager who will be responsible for the purchasing of inventory to meet demand forecasts, maximizing fulfillment and minimizing markdown risk. Also expedites orders to insure timely deliveries. Assists in the training and development of new staff members. Works on cost negotiation, with vendors that our purchasing volume has increased. Senior member of staff, others seek advice from their vast knowledge and experience. An expert in the Control Buying field.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Control Buyers and Buying staff to assure the best cost and terms on larger orders.
- Review and approves Control Buyer purchase orders.
- Review AIM accuracy by offer and inform Control Buyers.
- Plans and places initial orders on items within established time and dollar levels. Also places reorders to minimize backorders. Working to achieve high fulfillment without creating excess stock. Takes into account current market trends and the future life of the items.
- Review inventory and open orders for overstock and negotiates returns with vendors.
- Obtains delivery information on all items and updates system to inform customer service. Continuously review backorder status and strive to release backorders quickly.
- Develops relationships with vendors. Also inform and advises vendor performance to merchandising, Negotiates discounts on substantial reorders and vendors with increases in volume.
- Identifies over shipments and vendor discrepancy and negotiates solutions, working with the warehouse directly with the warehouse staff.
- Assists in the training and development of new staff members. IFM, Ecometry, and the logistics of when purchases occur. Others in department will often seek advice from the experience of the Senior Control Buyer.
Qualification Requirements:
- 4 years of inventory control buying
- Strong analytical capabilities, and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or related field is preferred.
