The Plating / Coating Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending plating or coating processes to apply chromium, zinc, or other protective coatings to metal products. This role ensures product surfaces are properly treated to meet quality, safety, and production standards.
Core Competencies
- Sort orders from production tables into appropriate containers or packaging for the next processing stage
- Operate the Roto Blaster to prepare parts for coating
- Identify material grades and apply corresponding color codes to product ends
- Maintain attention to detail and follow established procedures
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely and efficiently
- Operate machinery and production line equipment in accordance with production guidelines
- Inspect equipment and products for quality, integrity, and safety, reporting any abnormal conditions
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and production floor
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and production standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision
Physical Demands
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and manipulate materials
- Regularly stand and walk for extended periods
- Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance as required
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to talk and hear in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
