TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN - CTE
DESCRIPTION
Provides technical support for users of the district’s computer and VoIP phone systems, supporting general education
classrooms while prioritizing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, labs, and instructional equipment
when competing demands arise. This position is responsible for first‑level help desk support for hardware, software,
and instructional technology across the organization. The role requires flexibility in work assignments and scheduling,
and the ability to manage a wide range of support tasks in both classroom and lab‑based environments.
Presentation equipment (Projectors, document cameras, and sound systems).
Microsoft Windows, Office and Microsoft Office 365 Cloud Based Apps and Services.
Google Chrome, Chromebooks, and Google G-Suite.
Disk imaging solutions.
Print services and managing desktop printers.
Common network communication troubleshooting methods.
Network wiring standards.
Microsoft server administration.
Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.
Cisco IOS, Cisco Call Manager, and Unity voicemail.
This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to
prioritize workload, work independently as well as within a team environment, customer service oriented, good
interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with instructors to identify instructional software needs, select supporting hardware, and support
effective use of the software with students
Recommend and assist with selecting hardware, peripherals, and configurations to support instructional
software and curriculum needs, and support those systems after implementation
Deploy, troubleshoot and maintain Personal Computer (PC) software and hardware ensuring proper network
connectivity.
Upgrade and maintain classroom presentation equipment.
Manage LAN access, install standalone and network software, repairs improperly installed software and
hardware.
Maintain inventory of all hardware and software.
Maintain strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in all areas of hardware, software and communications.
Recommend specifications, standards, and requirements for hardware and/or software purchase and design to
ensure optimum system and end-user performance.
Help in the creation and maintenance of user accounts.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
A BA in Computer Science/Engineering, or four-plus years of previous work experience in desktop support and
network administration, or graduation from an accredited computer technical school. Experience in a K-12 setting,
and three to five years of help desk experience preferred. Candidates must possess outstanding customer service
skills, a positive attitude, ability to sustain a positive work environment under duress, as well as an ability to establish
positive working relationships with administrators, certificated and classified staff, clients, students and co-workers.
