POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Controller will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, reporting, and strategy. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction or heavy equipment contracting and possess a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the industry. This role will report directly to the Board of Directors and collaborate closely with project managers and executives to ensure the company's financial health and growth
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and payroll
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses to support strategic decision-making
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including tax filings and audits
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Partner with project managers to monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability
- Manage cash flow and working capital to support ongoing operations and investments
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and team development
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial operations
- Support the Board in strategic planning and financial forecasting
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Industry experience in construction, heavy equipment, or a related field is highly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Viewpoint Vista or similar construction accounting software is a plus)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and the ability to balance short-term priorities with long-term goals
