The Details of the Position
Title: Waiter/Server
Job Type: Veriable Hour/Part Time
Pay: $2.13 Tips
Work location: Poogan’s Southern Kitchen
Responsibilities (include the following and other responsibilities that may be assigned as needed):
- Present menus to guests, offer suggestions, and answer questions about menu items, daily specials, beverages, and other restaurant functions
- Take food and/or beverages orders from guests
- Check guests’ IDs to ensure they meet the minimum age requirements for alcoholic beverages
- Enter food and beverage orders into the POS system
- Prepare hot and cold beverages for guests
- Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee
- Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving
- Serve food or beverages to guests
- Monitor and observe guests’ dining experience to ensure satisfaction with the food and service
- Respond promptly and courteously to any guest complaints
- Accept guest payment, process credit card charges, and make change as needed
- Prepare tables for next turn of service
- Perform cleaning and stocking duties as assigned
- Maintain clean and orderly service stations
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer any suggestions for improvement
What You Bring to the Table
Your experience: 2 years of high-volume serving experience is preferred
Your education level: High school diploma or equivalent
Your abilities, skills, and traits:
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
- Possess a working knowledge of food and wine pairings, service standards, and food preparation
- Have experience with point-of-sale systems
- Have ability to read, count, and write
- Work well under pressure and maintain fast, efficient service
- Exhibit a positive and friendly demeanor to guests and team members
- Be dependable and punctual
- Be able to stand for duration of shift, climb stairs, and lift and move heavy items
