The Details of the Position
Title: Food Runner
Job Type: Part-Time / Variable Hour
Schedule: Weeknights (AM/PM), Weekends (AM/PM)
Work location: Poogan’s Southern Kitchen
Responsibilities (include the following and other responsibilities that may be assigned as needed):
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests’ tables rapidly and accurately
- Act as a liaison between Front-of-House and Back-of-House staff
- Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (ex: food allergies)
- Assist wait staff with table setting by retrieving and placing tableware, eating utensils, and napkins
- Serve welcome drinks and hors d’oeuvres upon guests’ arrival
- Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (ex: proper temperature)
- Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water
- Remove dirty dishes and utensils from the table
- Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
- Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (ex: when they ask for the check)
- Ensure families with young children receive kids menus and special silverware sets
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer any suggestions for improvement
What You Bring to the Table
Your experience: 1 year of restaurant experience is preferred, but we will train the right candidate
Your education level: High school diploma or equivalent
Your abilities, skills, and traits:
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of hygiene and food safety rules
- Possess an ability to multi-task
- Utilize oral communication skills
- Work well under pressure and maintain fast, efficient service
- Exhibit a positive and friendly demeanor to guests and team members
- Be dependable and punctual
- Be able to stand for duration of shift, climb stairs, and lift and move heavy items
