What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Marketing Manager position at Ploy?
Who We Are
At Ploy, we’re building the first growth automation software with your website at its core. We serve innovative operators at growth and marketing agencies, tech start-ups, and some traditional industries as well.
They build their website with Ploy’s agents, and then those agents automatically research the landscape and business context, identify winning strategies for account-based personalization, SEO/AEO, conversion rate optimization, and ship dozens of on-brand, on-strategy web pages in seconds to drive traffic and conversions.
Our vision is to completely re-define the concept of a marketing website in today’s agentic world.
And tear down the broken, archaic low-code tech stacks of the last generation of website builders. With agents, we can unburden a world of story-tellers from manual work, long timelines, and being blocked by internal and external resourcing, and return them to a world of, “yes, and” “let’s just do it.”
It’s a big, scary ambitious vision, but our team is uniquely positioned to do it.
- Some of the best design engineers and growth engineers in the world.
- World-class investors.
- And one of our co-founders is Bryant Chou, the former co-founder and CTO of Webflow. Yes, uniquely positioned.
- And last but not least, hopefully you, the one reading this 😄
About the role
From our experience at Webflow and other category-defining companies, we believe deeply in the power of social media — not just as a distribution channel, but as a way to shape culture, teach the market, and build a movement.
Ploy is hiring a Social Media Marketing Manager to own how we show up online.
You’ll be responsible for turning what we’re building into content that people actually want to read, watch, share, and talk about. That means translating big ideas — agentic websites, AI-powered growth, SEO/AEO, personalization, conversion, and the future of marketing — into sharp, compelling narratives across social channels.
This role sits at the intersection of content, growth, brand, and community. You’ll help Ploy become one of the defining voices in the conversations shaping the future of GTM, AI-powered marketing, and the web.
This is a high-ownership, high-context role at an early-stage startup. You won’t be handed a polished brand playbook and asked to simply schedule posts. You’ll be building the playbook: the voice, the content engine, the publishing rhythm, the audience strategy, the creative formats, and the feedback loops that help Ploy become impossible to ignore.
You should be someone who lives online, understands what makes ideas spread, and knows how to turn complex product and category narratives into simple, punchy, memorable content.
You’ll work closely with the founders, growth, product, and marketing teams to shape how Ploy enters the market, educates our audience, and builds a loyal following of marketers, founders, growth operators, agencies, and AI-pilled GTM teams.
What you'll own
- Social strategy & execution — Own Ploy’s social media strategy across LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant channels, from planning to publishing to optimization
- Brand voice & storytelling — Define and refine how Ploy shows up online: sharp, ambitious, useful, opinionated, and a little bit obsessed with the future of growth
- Content creation — Write, produce, and package social content that communicates Ploy’s product, vision, customer stories, launches, category POV, and founder perspectives
- Founder-led content — Work closely with Ploy’s founders and team members to turn their ideas, product insights, customer conversations, and market observations into compelling social content
- Category creation — Help educate the market on agentic websites, AI-powered growth, SEO/AEO, personalization, conversion rate optimization, and why the old way of building marketing websites is breaking
- Short-form video & creative — Lead the creation of lightweight videos, product demos, clips, graphics, screenshots, memes, and other formats that make Ploy easier to understand and harder to ignore
- Content calendar & operating cadence — Build and manage a consistent publishing rhythm across channels, balancing planned campaigns with timely, reactive content
- Audience growth & engagement — Grow Ploy’s audience by engaging with relevant creators, founders, operators, marketers, agencies, and communities in the right corners of the internet
- Launch amplification — Partner with product and growth to support feature launches, customer announcements, company milestones, and major GTM moments
- Performance analysis — Track what’s working, identify patterns, and continuously optimize content based on reach, engagement, conversion, audience quality, and business impact
- Cross-functional collaboration — Work closely with product, marketing, sales, and customer-facing teams to surface insights, amplify customer stories, and keep Ploy’s social presence tightly connected to the business
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has:
- 2–5 years of experience in social media, content marketing, growth marketing, or brand marketing, ideally at a fast-growth B2B, SaaS, AI, startup, or creator-led company
- Excellent writing instincts and the ability to make technical or complex ideas feel simple, exciting, and easy to understand
- A strong pulse on social media — you know what works on LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging channels, and you can explain why
- A genuine interest in startups, AI, marketing, growth, websites, and the future of GTM
- Experience creating content quickly, testing ideas, and using performance data to improve what comes next
- Strong taste — you know the difference between generic corporate content and content that actually earns attention
- An eye for clean visuals, strong hooks, sharp positioning, and clear storytelling
- Comfort working directly with founders, product teams, and customer-facing teams to extract ideas and turn them into content
- A bias toward action — you don’t need perfect instructions to start making things
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple channels, campaigns, and content formats at once
- Comfort working in-person with a fast-moving team in New York City
- Bonus: experience with short-form video, founder-led content, design tools, Webflow, Framer, Canva, Figma, CapCut, or other creative tools
- Bonus: you already follow the AI, growth, startup, GTM, Webflow, agency, or creator ecosystem and have strong opinions about what makes content good
This role is for someone who wants to move fast, own a major surface area of the company, and help build the voice of a company trying to redefine what a marketing website can be.
If that sounds exciting, we’d love to meet you.
