What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recruiter position at Ploy?
Who We Are
At Ploy, we’re building the first growth automation software with your website at its core. We serve innovative operators at growth and marketing agencies, tech start-ups, and some traditional industries as well.
They build their website with Ploy’s agents, and then those agents automatically research the landscape and business context, identify winning strategies for account-based personalization, SEO/AEO, conversion rate optimization, and ship dozens of on-brand, on-strategy web pages in seconds to drive traffic and conversions.
Our vision is to completely re-define the concept of a marketing website in today’s agentic world.
And tear down the broken, archaic low-code tech stacks of the last generation of website builders. With agents, we can unburden a world of story-tellers from manual work, long timelines, and being blocked by internal and external resourcing, and return them to a world of, “yes, and” “let’s just do it.”
It’s a big, scary ambitious vision, but our team is uniquely positioned to do it.
- Some of the best engineers, design engineers, and growth engineers in the world.
- World-class investors.
- And one of our co-founders is Bryant Chou, the former co-founder and CTO of Webflow. Yes, uniquely positioned.
- And last but not least, hopefully you, the one reading this 😄
About the Role
From our experience at Webflow and other category-defining companies, we believe deeply that the earliest hires shape everything: the product, the culture, the velocity, the ambition, and the standard for everyone who joins after.
Ploy is hiring a Recruiter to help us build the team that builds the company.
You’ll own the search for exceptional people across engineering, design engineering, growth, sales, marketing, customer-facing roles, and other functions as we scale. That means finding the people who are not just qualified on paper, but who have the taste, intensity, curiosity, and builder energy to thrive in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.
This role sits at the intersection of talent, storytelling, operations, and company-building. You’ll help translate Ploy’s vision into a recruiting motion that makes world-class candidates excited to take the call, understand the opportunity, and imagine themselves helping define a new category.
This is a high-ownership recruiting role at an early-stage startup. You won’t just manage inbound applications or coordinate interviews. You’ll help build the talent engine from the ground up: sourcing strategy, candidate messaging, interview processes, scorecards, pipeline tracking, employer brand, and the rituals that help us hire quickly without lowering the bar.
You should be someone who is sharp, thoughtful, highly organized, and energized by the hunt for exceptional people. You know that recruiting is not just filling seats. It is building the team that makes the impossible feel inevitable.
What You’ll Own
- Full-cycle recruiting — Own searches from role kickoff through sourcing, outreach, screening, interview process management, offer support, and close
- Sourcing strategy — Identify and engage exceptional candidates across engineering, design, growth, GTM, operations, and other high-priority functions
- Candidate storytelling — Translate Ploy’s product, vision, team, and opportunity into compelling messaging that makes great people want to learn more
- Pipeline generation — Build strong outbound pipelines for hard-to-fill roles, especially technical and high-leverage early-stage positions
- Interview process design — Partner with hiring managers to create clear, efficient, high-signal interview loops, scorecards, and decision criteria
- Candidate experience — Make every candidate interaction thoughtful, fast, respectful, and reflective of the quality bar we want to represent
- Hiring manager partnership — Work closely with founders and team leads to clarify role needs, calibrate on talent, and keep searches moving
- Talent operations — Maintain clean recruiting systems, track pipeline health, manage follow-ups, and create visibility across open roles
- Employer brand — Help shape how Ploy shows up to candidates across job descriptions, outbound messaging, social content, and talent communities
- Market intelligence — Stay close to where exceptional builders, operators, engineers, designers, and GTM talent spend time, and bring those insights back to the team
- Hiring bar and culture — Help protect a high talent bar while making sure we build a team with strong ownership, taste, speed, and care
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has:
- 2–5 years of experience in recruiting, talent, sourcing, people operations, executive search, agency recruiting, or another high-ownership talent role
- Experience recruiting for fast-moving startups, technical teams, product teams, GTM teams, or high-growth companies
- Strong sourcing skills and the ability to find exceptional candidates beyond obvious inbound channels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong judgment around talent, motivation, culture fit, and candidate quality
- A genuine interest in startups, AI, engineering, design, growth, GTM, and the future of software
- Comfort working closely with founders and hiring managers in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail across candidates, pipelines, follow-ups, and hiring processes
- A bias toward action — you do not wait for perfect instructions to start finding great people
- High empathy and strong candidate experience instincts
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to turn unclear hiring needs into structured search processes
- Ability to sell a vision, build trust quickly, and create urgency with high-caliber candidates
- Comfort working in-person with a fast-moving team in New York City
- Bonus: experience recruiting engineers, design engineers, founding team members, or early GTM hires
- Bonus: experience with Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, LinkedIn Recruiter, Gem, Clay, or similar recruiting and sourcing tools
- Bonus: you already follow the AI, startup, engineering, design, growth, or operator ecosystem and have strong opinions about what makes great talent great
This role is for someone who wants to move fast, own a foundational part of company-building, and help assemble the team redefining what a marketing website can be.
If that sounds exciting, we’d love to meet you.
