Role Overview: The Operating Room RN is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative care, including pre-op assessment, intraoperative assistance, and post-op evaluation, with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized perioperative care plans through continuous assessment.
- Follow safety protocols to prevent surgical errors, including site verification and accurate counts.
- Administer medications and manage specimens per policies.
- Maintain critical system functions and ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Provide patient education, emotional support, and promote dignity and privacy.
- Document all care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the team.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and serve as a patient advocate.
- Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience in acute care.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or from an accredited program.
- Current RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications.
- Preferred: Experience in trauma, neuro, spine, ortho, or vascular procedures.
- Additional certifications such as CNOR and PALS are advantageous.
