About the Company:
Our client specializes in research and development of advanced power generation systems. They are under contract with a U.S. government agency to develop and test a prototype sub-100kWe electrical generation system built on next-generation energy technology.
Position Overview:
This role is ideal for an engineer who has mastered the fundamentals of power electronics and control systems, with a track record of owning project milestones and integrated hardware deployment. You'll bridge the gap between high-level system architecture and hands-on implementation, working across 480 VAC distribution to precision servo control in sensitive operating environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support end-to-end deployment of energy generation, transfer, and storage systems, ensuring hardware meets internal and external integration requirements
- Implement PID control systems for voltage, current, and thermal management
- Integrate stepper and servo controllers for automated system components
- Design and document 480 VAC electrical layouts, focusing on safety, circuit protection, and industrial compliance
- Work with senior staff to select and integrate ruggedized electronics for system longevity in demanding environments
- Set up and manage Data Acquisition (DAQ) hardware to monitor system performance and provide clear data for analysis
- Track project milestones, update timelines, and help identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Create and maintain high-quality electrical and mechanical drawings using CAD software
Desired Qualifications:
- B.S. in a related Engineering field plus 3–5 years of professional experience in power systems, robotics, or industrial automation
- Experience managing small-to-medium project tasks with a proactive approach to risk management
- Practical experience with 480 VAC power distribution and industrial electrical standards
- Solid understanding of PID theory and hands-on controller implementation
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM/FEA (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or Abaqus)
