An innovative energy storage company is seeking a CTO to lead technology strategy, oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams, and drive the development of next-generation energy storage systems from prototype through commercial deployment.
This is a hands-on executive leadership role responsible for system architecture, product development, commercialization, and engineering execution across electrochemistry, mechanical systems, electrical systems, power electronics, and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the technical architecture for advanced energy storage platforms
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams spanning mechanical, electrical, chemical, controls, firmware, and testing disciplines
- Drive product development from R&D through manufacturing readiness and field deployment
- Oversee system performance, reliability, safety, efficiency, and lifecycle optimization
- Establish engineering processes, technical standards, and a high-performance culture
- Partner with operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams to scale products and align roadmap priorities with market needs
- Communicate technology strategy to executive leadership, investors, customers, and strategic partners
Ideal Background
- 12 years of experience in energy storage, electrochemical systems, power systems, or advanced hardware technologies
- Deep expertise in flow batteries, electrochemical technologies, or related energy infrastructure
- Strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, or a related discipline
- Proven track record bringing complex hardware products from concept through commercial deployment
- Experience with power electronics, inverter/rectifier technologies, grid-connected systems, or power quality solutions
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary engineering organizations
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities
