The Vice President of Finance serves as the senior financial leader and strategic business partner to the executive team. This role is responsible for financial oversight, operational finance leadership, and process flow transformation within a complex, dynamic manufacturing environment.
This leader will diagnose, design, and execute corrective process flow improvements, particularly within SAP billing workflows that span multiple departments, while ensuring financial data integrity and reconciliation across fragmented or disorganized databases.
The VP of Finance must combine strategic planning capability with hands-on execution, operating with urgency and accountability against defined timetables.
Key Position Responsibilities
Process Flow Transformation (Critical Priority Area)
- Assess current end-to-end order-to-cash and billing workflows within SAP
- Identify root causes of process breakdowns across departments (Operations, QA, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance)
- Design and document future-state process flows with clear ownership and controls
- Build a cross-functional remediation roadmap with defined milestones and success metrics
- Lead execution of remediation plan to a defined timetable with executive reporting cadence
- Implement monitoring controls to prevent regression
SAP Billing & Systems Optimization
- Partner with IT and operational stakeholders to stabilize and optimize SAP billing processes that not only work within the UK but also for the UK sister company
- Ensure financial outputs reconcile to operational data inputs
- Drive system discipline around master data, transaction controls, and workflow approvals
- Translate operational process requirements into system configuration or reporting needs
Data Integrity & Financial Reconciliation
- Interpret and explain financial performance derived from disorganized or fragmented data sources
- Build reconciliation frameworks, ensuring all explanations tie mathematically to the full data set
- Establish repeatable data validation processes across systems and manual data environments
- Develop reporting packages that convert complex datasets into clear executive-level narratives
Cross-Functional Execution Leadership
- Lead multi-department working teams to solve process and financial visibility issues
- Establish governance structure for process ownership and escalation
- Drive accountability across departments without direct reporting authority where required
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with local General Manager and Division Head to drive value creation strategy
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
- Develop KPIs aligned to manufacturing, customer delivery, and margin expansion
- Support commercial strategy through pricing, customer profitability, and contract analysis
Team Leadership
- Build and develop a high-performing finance team
- Mentor and develop financial controllers
- Establish performance metrics tied to accuracy, speed, and business partnership effectiveness
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and operational ownership
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional process transformation initiatives
- Proven ability to execute complex remediation plans within defined timelines
- Experience working in SAP (or similar large scale ERP’s) and improving billing environments, Order-to-cash, and billing process design
- Manufacturing environment experience required (pharma, clinical services, or regulated manufacturing preferred)
- Prior experience in Private Equity-backed company preferred
