The Williams College Investment Office actively manages the college's approximately $3.7 billion endowment, which consistently ranks among the nation's largest per student. This endowment is vital, funding over 50% of the college's annual operating budget and ensuring Williams can deliver an exceptional educational experience in perpetuity. The Investment Analyst Role
Based in Boston, the Investment Analyst is an integral member of our 11-person team, supporting all aspects of endowment management. This is a generalist role providing wide-ranging exposure across all nine asset classes within the portfolio. Key responsibilities include:
Investment Manager Due Diligence & Monitoring:
- Support evaluation of prospective and existing managers, including qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Participate in and summarize meetings with investment managers.
- Draft investment recommendations and present analyses on various investment topics.
- Attend relevant industry conferences and events, educating the team on market topics and sourcing prospective managers and strategies.
Portfolio Analysis & Strategy:
- Track and analyze portfolio-wide exposures and performance metrics using Caissa.
- Assist with modeling and monitoring the endowment's asset allocation.
- Lead and contribute to ad hoc research projects on market trends, strategies, and global opportunities.
Operational & Committee Support:
- Lead preparation of quarterly materials for Investment Committee and Advisory Committee meetings (e.g., investment recommendations, strategy updates, performance and exposure detail, asset allocation, etc.).
- Track cash flows and assess portfolio liquidity.
- Process and review legal documents related to investments.
- Lead student engagement with the Investment Office.
Analysts receive comprehensive ongoing training and mentorship to support their professional development and prepare them for future career steps.
