Client:
Our client is a private equity firm that focuses exclusively on special situations secondary investing, focusing on transactions such as fund restructurings, spin-outs, take-outs of cornerstone fund investments, as well as direct and co-investment purchases. The senior team brings significant leadership experience from large and well-known firms, and they are seeking to add an Associate in their New York office.
Opportunity:
This role will provide exposure to many facets of the private equity universe, including company assessment and valuation, transaction structuring, and manager evaluation. This is a lean environment, and candidates should be willing to wear a variety of hats as needed, including both investment and business building work. They are looking for motivated self-starters with strong investment acumen and the ability to run with and take ownership of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including company and fund modeling and industry research
- Creation of detailed financial projections and modeling of possible investments
- Active involvement in executing sourcing strategy
- Research select industry sectors to identify possible acquisition targets and execute research on new areas that firm would like to explore
- Drafting investment memoranda, presenting research, and the ability to discuss and analyze the merits of an investment
- Assist in fundraising efforts as needed
Qualifications:
- Two to five years of experience (investment banking, private equity)
- Bachelor’s degree with a record of academic achievement required
- Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, and ability to make thoughtful recommendations
- Ability to analyze a wide variety of businesses and write investment memoranda
- Willingness to work on a wide range of tasks, and ability to prioritize among projects
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Entrepreneurial personality is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills as well as the ability to work under strict deadlines
- Well-rounded interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently with limited supervision
- Honest, friendly, positive, team attitude with high standards of excellence
