Role Description The Shop Foreman is a full-time, on-site role located in Burlington, NC, responsible for leading day-to-day operations in a structural steel fabrication shop. This role oversees production schedules, assigns work, and coordinates teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. The Shop Foreman monitors workflow, inspects work in progress, and supports problem-solving for fabrication, assembly, and finishing processes. Daily responsibilities include supervising and mentoring shop personnel, enforcing safety procedures, managing materials and equipment, and communicating job status with management and project leads. The role also involves maintaining documentation, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with other departments to meet customer and project requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience leading fabrication or industrial shop operations, including team supervision, scheduling, and workflow coordination.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes, shop equipment, and reading technical drawings or blueprints.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety practices, hazard identification, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and provide clear direction to diverse teams.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills for managing multiple projects, resolving production issues, and maintaining quality standards.
- Experience in modular fabrication, structural steel, or related manufacturing environments is an asset.
- Familiarity with production reporting, basic computer skills, and use of shop management or ERP systems is beneficial.
- Relevant technical training or certifications in welding, fabrication, or industrial management are an advantage.
