Fixed Income Product Controller

We are seeking a Fixed Income Product Controller to support the accounting and financial reporting of a Municipals trading desk within a leading global financial services firm. This role sits within the Fixed Income Division and will act as a key control function, partnering closely with Front Office, Risk, and Operations to ensure accurate P&L reporting and a strong control environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for the Municipals trading desk, including P&L, revenue commentary, and balance sheet substantiation
• Partner with Front Office to produce daily, weekly, and monthly P&L analysis
• Investigate and resolve P&L discrepancies related to trade booking, valuation, or system issues
• Liaise with cross-functional teams including Front Office, Operations, Technology, Middle Office, and Market Risk
• Support month-end close including balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation
• Evaluate trades for appropriate valuation, accounting treatment, and financial statement disclosure
• Enhance and strengthen internal controls through ongoing review and process improvement
• Participate in system and process improvement initiatives
• Handle ad hoc analysis and reporting requests from the desk

Qualifications

• 5 years of Product Control experience, preferably within Fixed Income
• Experience with Municipal Securities strongly preferred
• Familiarity with accounting principles including Available for Sale (AFS)
• Strong understanding of P&L and balance sheet reporting within a trading environment
• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
