Buyer/Purchasing Agent – 1st Shift | $20–$26/hr (DOE)
Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Well-established machine shop in Temperance, MI is seeking an experienced Buyer/Purchasing Agent. You would play a key role in supporting purchasing operations by managing purchase orders, supplier communication, documentation, and material flow — including coordination with international vendors. This position is essential to ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective supply chain activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Senior Buyers and the Purchasing Manager with placing, reviewing, and tracking purchase and service orders
- Communicate with domestic and international suppliers to open accounts and gather required quality documentation, including customs and tariff information
- Monitor commodity invoices and provide timely updates to the purchasing team
- Maintain accurate delivery dates, PO status, and supplier information within the system
- Prepare daily and weekly purchasing reports to guide decision-making
- Track inventory levels, manage reorder points, and ensure materials are available for production needs
- Collaborate with operations to verify materials arrive on schedule to support manufacturing requirements
- Assist with cost-reduction initiatives, supplier performance monitoring, and risk-mitigation efforts
Qualified candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in purchasing, preferably within a manufacturing environment, strong computer skills, and the ability to foster and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
