Cross Country-Elementary

Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Cross Country at RW Combs Elementary. The ideal candidate will inspire young athletes, foster a positive and inclusive team environment, and promote the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and developing students in various track and field events, ensuring a fun and educational experience for all participants.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement training programs for students in various track and field events, including sprints, distance running, jumping, and throwing.
• Organize and conduct daily practice sessions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all athletes.
• Provide individual and group coaching to improve athletes' skills, technique, and performance.
• Monitor and evaluate athletes' progress, offering constructive feedback and encouragement.
• Foster teamwork and sportsmanship among team members, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
• Prepare athletes for competitions by organizing and coordinating participation in local meets and events.
• Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and performance updates.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies regarding equipment and facility use.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and any incidents that may occur during practices or competitions.
• Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to enhance the overall athletic program at RW Combs Elementary.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience in track and field or relevant athletic experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of track and field events, techniques, and training methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to create a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages participation and personal growth.
• First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or the willingness to obtain certification.
• Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
• Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends during the track and field season.
• A passion for youth sports and a commitment to the development of student-athletes.
