The Ocean Import Agent will manage all aspects of ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, familiarity with international shipping regulations, and the ability to deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage ocean import shipments, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, compliance, and communication.
• Process and review all import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and arrival notices.
• Track and trace ocean freight shipments; proactively update customers, carriers, and internal teams.
• Arrange customs clearance with brokers and ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
• Schedule and coordinate drayage, warehousing, and final delivery with carriers and service providers.
• Resolve shipment issues such as delays, holds, discrepancies, or damaged cargo.
• Maintain accurate records in the company’s TMS and ensure data integrity for billing and compliance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and vendors.
• Collaborate with other operations team members to ensure smooth workflow and exceptional service.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Strong understanding of ocean import processes, Incoterms, and U.S. Customs regulations.
• Experience working with carriers, NVOCCs, drayage companies, and customs brokers.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
