This role is responsible for managing end-to-end import shipments, ensuring timely and accurate processing of documentation, and maintaining compliance with international shipping regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage international import shipments via air and ocean freight
- Prepare and process import documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, delivery orders, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with U.S. import regulations and international trade laws
- Communicate with carriers, airlines, steamship lines, customs brokers, and overseas agents to arrange shipments and track cargo
- Provide shipment updates and customer support to clients
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve delays, customs holds, or other issues
- Coordinate customs clearance and ensure proper classification of goods
- Maintain accurate records in the transportation management system (TMS)
- Coordinate with internal departments (warehouse, customs brokerage, accounting)
- Ensure billing accuracy and timely invoicing
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in import freight forwarding (air and/or ocean)
- Strong knowledge of import documentation and procedures
- Familiarity with U.S. import compliance regulations and customs clearance procedures
- Experience with freight forwarding software (e.g., CargoWise, Magaya, or similar)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
