Technical Report Writer -Crystal Reports to SSRS

Peak Performers has partnered with a city government to assist in their search for an onsite Technical Report Writer in Kansas City, MO. In this contract position, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and migrating reports between Crystal Reports and SSRS platforms.

Major duties

• Design, develop, and modify reports using Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), adhering to existing standards and documentation.
• Plan and execute the migration of Crystal Reports to SSRS, which may involve analyzing existing reports, recreating datasets and data sources in SSRS, and building the report layouts.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract and manipulate data for reporting purposes.
• Identify opportunities to enhance report performance and efficiency, potentially by analyzing data, optimizing queries, and leveraging features within both tools.
• Perform testing of developed reports to ensure accuracy, data integrity, and compliance with specifications and the established branding guidelines for the City.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to existing reports and report delivery. Documentation: Maintain documentation related to report structures, data sources, processes, and any modifications or changes.
  
  

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven work experience (typically 2-5 years or more) in report development, with significant experience in both Crystal Reports and SSRS.
• Expertise in developing reports, including creating complex reports, utilizing data structures, and applying reporting principles.
• Strong knowledge and experience with SSRS, including creating reports, charts, and graphs.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions; experience with query optimization is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, design, and data modeling.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and translating business needs into effective report.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders and documenting report details.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and data integrity in reports.
