Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Superintendent to lead field operations on public works and commercial tenant improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have proven success managing projects similar in scope and complexity to public Works Projects or Commercial work and strict public-agency compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site construction activities from mobilization through final punch and close-out.
  • Manage daily operations including crew scheduling, subcontractor coordination, material deliveries, and quality control.
  • Enforce project schedules, maintain accurate daily reports, and proactively identify and resolve field issues to protect schedule and budget.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Washington public works requirements, prevailing wage, safety regulations, and owner/agency specifications.
  • Lead jobsite safety (including tree protection, traffic control, and public access when applicable) and serve as the primary on-site safety representative.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers on change orders, RFIs, submittals, and SOV updates.
  • Maintain professional communication with owners, general contractors, inspectors, and the public on active park, civic, and institutional sites.
  • Oversee quality of drywall, framing, ACT, insulation, and related finishes to meet or exceed project standards.
  • Track labor, equipment, and material usage; support accurate as-built documentation and close-out packages.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of commercial construction superintendent experience, with direct responsibility for projects in the $500K–$1.5M range.
  • Demonstrated experience on public works or institutional projects (senior centers, fire stations, parks, restrooms, schools, or similar civic facilities).
  • Strong knowledge of metal stud framing, gypsum board systems, acoustical ceilings, insulation, and restroom/tenant improvement scopes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple trades, maintain schedule, and deliver clean, code-compliant work under agency oversight.
  • Current OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain immediately).
  • Valid Washington driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with public agencies and owners.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings accurately.

Preferred Experience

  • Direct experience on projects comparable to:
  • (senior/community facility TI)
  • (public safety / institutional)
  • (park restroom, site-sensitive work)
  • Familiarity with Washington State public works procedures.
  • Experience with WMBE/MBE subcontractor coordination and documentation.
  • Background in Carpentry specialty contracting is a strong plus.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
