Brand-new Bay Area chemical manufacturing line, no legacy code to inherit, you architect the controls from sensor selection through commissioning. The product line is a first-to-market copper-based platform backed by 20 patents. The CEO is pushing urgency on hitting commercial volume, so the control system you design ships into a real product within months, not the multi-year corporate-IT timelines typical of mature plants.

Pave Talent is recruiting for a confidential client, a publicly traded specialty electronics materials leader (NYSE-listed) commercializing a first-to-market copper-based interconnect platform aimed at advanced semiconductor packaging and high-density datacenter applications. The technology is protected by 20 patents and the CEO is pushing urgency on hitting commercial volume.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹 𝗢𝘄𝗻

• You set the controls standards. Whoever comes after you inherits your architecture, your safety logic, and your historian schema.

• Front-end engineering and detailed design for new equipment, reactors, wet benches, blending, and packaging lines.

• Translation of PFDs and P&IDs into I/O lists, control narratives, and cause-and-effect matrices.

• PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platform specification and configuration (Rockwell, Siemens, DeltaV, Opto 22, Honeywell Experion, ABB 800xA), with OSI PI historian, sequential/batch logic, alarm strategies, and ISA-95/GAMP compliance.

• FAT/SAT, startup, and onsite commissioning. Troubleshoot to root cause and drive continuous improvement.

• LOPA and SIL verifications, safety-instrumented function design, and compliance with NFPA 70/79, UL 508A, and IEC 61511 in flammable, corrosive, and cleanroom environments.

• CAPEX automation workstreams (scope, budget, schedule, vendor coordination, documentation), partnered with Process Engineering, Maintenance, and EHS through every project.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴

• Bachelor's in Automation, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering. Master's preferred.

• 8 years of hands-on PLC/DCS/HMI design and commissioning in batch or continuous chemical plants.

• Deep expertise on at least one major platform (Rockwell ControlLogix, Siemens PCS 7, DeltaV, ABB 800xA, Opto 22, or Honeywell Experion).

• Working knowledge of instrumentation, process control theory, and hazardous-area classifications (Class I/Div 2, ATEX).

• Bonus points for TUV Functional Safety Engineer or platform-specific certifications, Python or C/C scripting, vision systems, servo drives, and safety PLCs.
