Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid – 4 days onsite / Fridays flexible)
Compensation: $140,000–$165,000 base bonus
Pathway Talent Partners is partnering with a highly respected national design firm to identify a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing Mechanical team in Washington, DC. This is a key senior‑level role offering both hands‑on design responsibility and technical leadership, with visibility across local and national project teams.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Senior Designer who enjoys production work, mentorship, and client interaction, and who wants to play a meaningful role in building and shaping a growing office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior‑level HVAC and plumbing design leadership across a variety of project types
- Mentor and guide mechanical engineers and designers
- Develop and manage project work plans, schedules, and deliverables
- Lead system selection, basis of design, and ensure overall technical quality
- Coordinate mechanical and plumbing design with other disciplines and Project Managers
- Represent the mechanical discipline during client meetings
- Support construction phase activities including submittal reviews and RFI responses
- Assist with quality control standards and continuous improvement initiatives
- Serve as a technical resource across HVAC and plumbing design efforts
Qualifications
- 8 years of mechanical (HVAC & plumbing) design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (strong experience may be considered if actively pursuing licensure)
- Strong proficiency in Revit
- Experience with Trane TRACE or similar load calculation software
- Ability to clearly present technical information to clients and internal stakeholders
- Stable work history preferred (this team values long‑term contributors)
Project Exposure
- Multifamily housing (including senior living and student housing)
- Civic and government projects
- Corporate office buildings
- Fire stations and large multi‑unit facilities (projects up to ~200 units)
- Nationwide project work, with a strong Midwest and East Coast presence
Team & Reporting Structure
- Join a Mechanical group of ~14 professionals across multiple offices
- Work closely with Mechanical Directors and senior leadership
