Role Overview
As the CNC Swiss Department Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations within the Swiss department. This includes supervising operators, performing advanced setups, troubleshooting, and ensuring production goals and quality standards are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and support CNC Swiss operators, including tool selection and job assignments
- Set up and operate Citizen Swiss CNC machines across various materials (plastics, aluminum, stainless steels, bronze, brass, copper)
- Troubleshoot machining and setup issues efficiently
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Conduct in-process inspections with precision measuring tools
- Oversee tool usage, wear, and coordination with the tool crib
- Maintain accurate documentation and traveler workflow
- Partner with Quality and Engineering teams for problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Promote safety and cleanliness within the department
- 5–7 years of CNC Swiss setup and operation experience
- Hands-on expertise with Citizen Swiss machines
- Strong background machining plastics, aluminum, stainless steels, bronze, and brass
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Skilled in troubleshooting and time management
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Experience sharpening your own tools
- Programming experience with PartMaker
- Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision tools
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Technical training or certifications in machining/manufacturing (preferred)
- $30–$38/hour (based on experience)
