Overview
A well-established financial institution in Western Massachusetts is seeking a Senior Vice President / Chief Accounting Officer to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. This is a high-impact leadership role partnering closely with the CFO and executive team, overseeing core accounting operations, regulatory compliance, and financial strategy across multiple entities.

Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger, financial reporting, month-end close, and reconciliations
- Oversee regulatory and GAAP-compliant financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure strong internal controls (FDICIA/SOX environment) and audit readiness
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting leaders (Controller / Assistant Controller level)
- Oversee key banking-specific areas including:
- Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL)
- Bank-Owned Life Insurance (BOLI)
- Corporate tax compliance and reporting
- Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting
- Lead audit processes and coordinate with internal/external auditors and regulators
- Drive process improvements and enhance operational efficiency across the accounting function
Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong leadership background
- Banking or financial institution experience REQUIRED
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with FDICIA, ACL, BOLI, and regulatory reporting strongly preferred
- Blend of public accounting industry experience is a plus
- CPA highly preferred
