Role Overview
Partify Inc. is a fast growing e-commerce painted automotive parts company focused on building scalable, data driven operations. We are seeking a Color Scientist to lead the development, optimization, and standardization of our paint color systems as the company continues to scale.
This is a highly technical, hands on role focused on ensuring precise color matching, consistency, and repeatability across high volume production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, color science, and coatings, with experience working in environments where accuracy and efficiency are critical.
You will play a key role in improving our paint formulation processes, reducing variability, and helping build a best in class color matching system that supports operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, test, and refine paint formulations to achieve accurate OEM color matches.
Analyze and control variables impacting color consistency, including pigments, binders, and environmental conditions.
Establish and maintain color standards, tolerances, and quality control procedures.
Utilize spectrophotometers and other color measurement tools to ensure precision and repeatability.
Investigate and resolve color discrepancies in production and implement corrective actions.
Partner with production and operations teams to improve paint application processes.
Create documentation and SOPs for color mixing, testing, and quality control.
Conduct root cause analysis related to color variation and coating defects.
Support scaling efforts by improving efficiency and reducing material waste.
Stay current on advancements in coatings technology, pigments, and color science.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
2 years of experience in coatings, paints, pigments, or color formulation.
Strong understanding of color theory, pigment chemistry, and coating systems.
Experience with color measurement tools (e.g., spectrophotometers, colorimeters).
Knowledge of quality control processes and statistical analysis related to color consistency.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast paced production environment.
Ability to collaborate cross functionally with operations and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in automotive paint or OEM color matching.
Familiarity with waterborne and solvent-based coating systems.
Experience in high volume or production manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of surface preparation, paint adhesion, and curing processes.
Experience with process optimization or lean manufacturing principles.
Exposure to data analysis tools or reporting platforms.
