The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a Tax Staff with ~2–3 years of public accounting experience who’s hungry to grow quickly into Senior scope. You’ll work on a diverse client mix, develop advanced technical skills, and see clear, milestone-based progression with mentorship and KPI-driven incentives.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare federal and state returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations (1040/1065/1120), including multi-state as needed.
- Handle miscellaneous business filings (business property tax, city business tax, sales/use tax).
- Review client financials, diagnose bookkeeping issues, and recommend clean-ups to keep engagements on track.
- Manage day-to-day engagement flow: client communications, info requests, status updates, and deadlines.
- Research tax issues and summarize practical, compliance-ready recommendations.
- Collaborate with a personable, younger team; share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
What You’ll Bring
- 2–3 years of tax experience in public accounting.
- CPA: CPA-eligible or actively testing (CPA licensed a plus). EA holders considered with strong relevant experience; interest in CPA track preferred.
- Familiarity with CCH Axcess Tax and exposure to CCH Engagement are strong pluses (or similar modern tax stacks).
- Excel proficiency; organized, detail-driven, efficient under deadlines.
- Strong client communication skills and comfort owning parts of an engagement.
- A growth mindset—initiative, accountability, and excitement to build Senior-level capability.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $75,000
