Your Role and Responsibilities
- Guide compliance, improve processes, and ensure accurate reporting across jurisdictions.
- Partner closely with finance leaders, operational teams, and external advisors.
- Lead indirect tax compliance, including sales, use, and personal property tax filings across multiple states.
- Manage tax audits, notices, and refund claims, and communicate directly with tax authorities.
- Improve tax processes and systems to increase automation, accuracy, and timely reporting.
- Oversee indirect tax accounting, including reconciliations, accruals, and payment reviews.
- Support M&A activities by reviewing tax risks and assisting with integration efforts.
Required Skills and Knowledge
To succeed in this role, you bring strong technical tax knowledge and leadership experience. You are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with multiple priorities. You understand multi-state regulations and know how to translate complex rules into clear guidance. You enjoy improving systems and building structured processes. You also communicate clearly and work well with different teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification required.
- 7 years of experience in indirect tax, either in industry or public accounting.
- Experience with tax automation tools and sales and use tax software platforms.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities, including large data sets.
