An established organization is hiring a Senior Accountant to support financial oversight of expense and costs tied to operations. This position plays a central role in monitoring cost performance across assets, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and delivering insight into operational spending trends.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting activities related to operating costs, including review of financial results across multiple properties and entities
- Maintain ownership of expense areas tied to vendor services, infrastructure support, and production-related inputs
- Analyze fluctuations in spending by evaluating key drivers, contract structures, and changes in production levels
- Prepare and validate journal entries, monthly accruals, and account reconciliations to support accurate period-end close
- Work in coordination with cross-functional groups including operations, finance, and accounting support teams to ensure proper expense recognition and classification
- Translate financial data into meaningful insights that support cost management and operational decision-making
- Contribute to audit processes by assembling supporting documentation and addressing inquiries related to expense activity
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance requirements related to expense accounting processes
- Drive efficiency by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and incorporate automation and data tools
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a similar function
- Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and perform detailed variance analysis
- Strong foundation in accrual accounting and expense recognition
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and comfort working with financial systems
Additional Experience (Preferred):
- CPA or progress toward certification
- Exposure to publicly traded company environments or external audit
- Familiarity with cost analysis and capital intensive environments/structures
