What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solutions Architect position at PANGEATWO?
PangeaTwo is partnering with a rapidly growing organization to identify a Solutions Architect who can help shape the future of its data and technology platform.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on architect who enjoys more than simply creating diagrams. You'll have the opportunity to influence architecture strategy, build scalable solutions, work closely with engineering and analytics teams, and help introduce innovative AI-driven development practices.
The company is open to candidates across a broad compensation range based on experience and will consider fully remote candidates. For those located in or near Birmingham, the preferred schedule is two days per week in the office.
What You'll Do- Own the target-state architecture for a complex data platform, including data ingestion, storage, modeling, serving, and governance.
- Establish architectural direction for analytical technologies including SQL Server, SSAS, and ClickHouse.
- Design and develop integration solutions utilizing technologies such as Azure Data Factory, REST APIs, messaging platforms, and CDC.
- Design and support event-driven, service-oriented workloads operating in Kubernetes environments.
- Remain hands-on with development and technical implementation rather than focusing solely on high-level architecture.
- Help make AI-assisted development an integral part of the engineering environment.
- Evaluate and implement tools such as coding agents, LLM-based development tools, retrieval systems, and automated solutions that improve engineering productivity.
- Establish data contracts, schema standards, quality expectations, and SLAs.
- Build security, privacy, access controls, and auditability into the data platform.
- Partner with engineering, analytics, and business leadership to translate business objectives into practical technical strategies.
- Lead architecture and design discussions and mentor engineers.
- Help establish technical roadmaps and guide projects from concept through implementation.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive development and operational processes.
We're looking for someone who combines architecture-level thinking with strong hands-on technical skills.
Qualified candidates will bring:
- 8 years of experience across data engineering, software engineering, platform architecture, or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience with T-SQL, SQL Server, SSAS, and Azure Data Factory.
- Production experience with ClickHouse or a comparable columnar database/analytics platform such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
- Strong development experience in Python, Go, or another comparable backend language.
- Experience designing and implementing event-driven systems, including REST, NATS, Kafka, CDC, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with Kubernetes and production workloads.
- A strong understanding of modern AI-assisted software development, including coding agents, LLM tooling, retrieval, evaluations, and responsible implementation.
- The ability to take complex or ambiguous business problems and turn them into practical, scalable technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and executive leadership.
- Healthcare, veterinary, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience supporting multi-location organizations.
- Experience with Practice Information Management Systems (PIMS) or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience working with large, distributed data environments.
This isn't a role where you'll simply create an architecture document and hand it off to someone else.
The organization is looking for a hands-on Solutions Architect who wants to influence strategy while remaining close to the technology. You'll have the opportunity to help define the architecture, write and review code, mentor engineers, introduce AI-driven development practices, and build systems that can scale with a rapidly growing organization.
Compensation & Work Arrangement- $80,000–$140,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Full-time opportunity.
- Hybrid schedule: Birmingham-area candidates will generally work 2 days per week in the office.
- Fully remote candidates will be considered.
- Relocation candidates may also be considered.

- Significant opportunity to influence technology strategy and architecture.
If you're a Solutions Architect, Data Architect, Data Engineer, or Senior Software Engineer ready to take on a broader architectural role — and you enjoy staying hands-on with the technology — we'd love to talk with you.
