Pittsburgh area professional services company in need of a Human Resources Assistant. The selected candidate will manage core human resources functions to include employee relations, benefits, payroll, and compliance. Duties to include:· Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and conflict resolution.· Conduct thorough internal investigations into workplace complaints, harassment allegations, or policy violations.· Coach supervisors on performance management, including the development of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and disciplinary actions.· Lead employee engagement initiatives, such as recognition programs and culture-building events.· Assist the bookkeeper in the administration of employee benefits, including open enrollment, plan changes, and terminations.· Assist bookkeeper with review of bi-weekly timesheets and the Time Billing program for errors and corrections.· Administer leave of absence requests, ADA accommodation requests and workers' compensation claims.· Compliance & Policy Management· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws (FLSA, EEO, HIPAA).· Update and enforce the Employee Handbook and internal HR policies to ensure legal adherence.· Conduct regular HR audits to ensure personnel files are accurately maintained.· Manage mandatory compliance training, such as anti-harassment and safety protocolsRequirements:· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus · Minimum 2-4 years of progressively responsible HR experience, specifically spanning the four core domains mentioned.· Thorough understanding of federal and state labor laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and PA-specific regulations).· Knowledge of sourcing, screening, and interviewing techniques to build a team from ground up.· Familiarity with administering health insurance, 401(k) plans, and managing payroll cycles.· Ability to draft and update employee handbooks that align with both legal standards and company culture· Professional verbal and written communication skills· Excellent multi-tasking skills· Proficient MSOffice skills; operating HRIS platforms, payroll systems (QuickBooks)· Ability to handle sensitive payroll and personnel date with total confidentiality
