Position Summary
The Physician Recruiter is responsible for the full recruitment lifecycle for physicians across multiple specialties. This includes sourcing, screening, interviewing, negotiating, and successfully placing physicians into locum tenens and permanent opportunities while delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, relationship-focused, and comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for physicians across multiple specialties.
- Source, recruit, and engage active and passive physician candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, ATS platforms, physician databases, referrals, networking, and direct outreach.
- Conduct in-depth candidate interviews to assess clinical experience, career goals, compensation expectations, licensing status, and geographic preferences.
- Match physician candidates with appropriate locum tenens and permanent opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified physician candidates.
- Build trusted relationships through consistent communication and consultative career guidance.
- Present employment opportunities while effectively communicating compensation, schedules, benefits, and organizational culture.
- Negotiate offers and facilitate successful contract execution.
- Collaborate with credentialing, licensing, onboarding, travel, and operations teams to ensure seamless provider placement.
- Maintain accurate candidate records and activity within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and CRM.
- Meet or exceed recruiting KPIs, including outbound calls, candidate submissions, interviews, placements, and revenue goals.
- Attend industry conferences, networking events, residency programs, and physician recruitment events to expand talent pipelines.
- Stay informed on physician workforce trends, specialty shortages, compensation benchmarks, and healthcare market dynamics. Successful physician recruiters typically balance relationship-building with high-volume sourcing and close coordination across licensing, credentialing, and operations teams.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent recruiting experience.
- 2 years of physician, provider, healthcare staffing, or locum tenens recruiting experience preferred.
- Experience recruiting physicians across multiple specialties.
- Strong sourcing skills utilizing LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, physician databases, and networking strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple searches simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with ATS and CRM systems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
