Utility Plant Operator I (Wastewater)

Skilled work related to the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility. Performs lab and operational duties; exercises independent judgment to make process adjustments using established procedures. Uses chemical feed systems, pumps, chlorinators, and filters; collects samples and conducts laboratory analyses of the biological process throughout various stages of water treatment; records results.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

· Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Qualified applicants MUST possess the following at time of application:

• A valid FL Class C Wastewater Plant Operator’s License (copy of License must be uploaded to online application by 5:00 P.M. on the closing date).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

• College-level coursework in environmental or chemical studies,

• Two (2) years of experience in plant operations and maintenance,

• Experience using computers, and

• Valid FL Class A/B Wastewater Plant Operator’s License (copy of License must be uploaded to online application by 5:00 P.M. on the closing date).
