Our client is a high profile, multi entity business operating at the intersection of large scale real estate development, leasing, and experiential retail. The organization is backed by a sophisticated ownership group and continues to invest significantly in long term growth.
They are seeking a Director of Accounting to partner closely with senior finance leadership and take ownership of financial accounting across the US based platform. This is a visible leadership role with responsibility for controls, reporting, and audit in a fast paced, complex, leasing based environment.
Description
Reporting directly into the local leadership, with a dotted line into the functional accounting leadership overseas this role's main duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Own the full month end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
- Maintain ownership of balance sheet, bank, and intercompany reconciliations
- Produce weekly, monthly, and annual cash flow forecasts
- Oversee payroll accounting, reconciliations, and related processes
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for internal and external audits
- Lead the year end audit process and preparation of statutory accounts
- Coordinate tax compliance activities with external advisors
- Oversee transaction processing and controls within a large ERP environment
- Establish and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Partner with cross functional stakeholders across finance, operations, development, and leasing.
This is a HYBRID role between in-office 3 days/ week (Elmont, NY) and 1 to 2 days/ week REMOTE.
Profile
In return for a competitive remuneration package, the successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree
- CPA or equivalent professional qualification preferred
- Broad accounting experience with a strong control mindset
- Prior exposure to real estate, retail, hospitality, or development/ leasing/ retail focused businesses
- Experience managing audits and statutory reporting requirements
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast moving, deadline driven environment
- Ability to manage a small team
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
- High discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
Job Offer
