Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant - Certified to support a busy Primary Care practice in Lexington, MA. This role is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support, assisting providers with patient care, performing routine clinical procedures, coordinating diagnostic services, and ensuring efficient daily clinic operations. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced with Epic EMR and Point-of-Care testing.
Roles & Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, height, weight, pulse, temperature, and other clinical information.
- Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point-of-Care (POC) testing.
- Assist providers during patient examinations and clinical procedures.
- Prepare patients for examinations and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR.
Patient Care Coordination
- Schedule diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and specialty appointments.
- Coordinate patient care activities and communicate follow-up instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records within Epic EMR.
- Support patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Administrative Support
- Maintain exam rooms by cleaning, stocking, and preparing supplies.
- Monitor medical inventory and replenish clinical supplies as needed.
- Complete clinical documentation and administrative tasks accurately.
- Support providers with additional office and patient care responsibilities.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Adhere to organizational policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Maintain current BLS certification and required clinical competencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
- Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Experience performing vital signs, blood pressure measurements, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
- Experience using Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Experience performing Point-of-Care (POC) testing.
- Experience scheduling diagnostic and laboratory tests.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Must reside within 20 miles of the facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification.
- Previous Primary Care or Ambulatory Care experience.
- Experience supporting physicians in a fast-paced outpatient clinic.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows.
- Experience maintaining exam rooms and medical inventory.
