Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to support maintenance planning, scheduling, inventory management, and turnaround coordination within a chemical manufacturing facility. This role will collaborate with operations, engineering, safety, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient execution of preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities while optimizing inventory, supporting SAP maintenance systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance work orders.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, safety, and maintenance personnel to define work scope and priorities.
- Utilize SAP to manage preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, manpower loading, and maintenance backlog.
- Procure maintenance materials and coordinate vendor support when required.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), Task Lists, and Preventive Maintenance Plans.
- Conduct scheduling meetings with cross-functional teams to communicate maintenance priorities.
- Develop and maintain work management procedures from work request through completion.
- Provide SAP training and guidance to maintenance personnel as needed.
- Support site audits, including PSM, ISO, and AIMS compliance activities.
- Serve as backup for the Maintenance Supervisor when required.
Storeroom & Inventory Management
- Evaluate storeroom processes and identify improvement opportunities through root cause analysis.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to improve inventory management.
- Organize physical inventory and warehouse locations using SMART methodologies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within SAP.
- Monitor spare parts availability and support inventory optimization initiatives.
Turnaround Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and execute plant shutdowns and turnaround (TAR) activities.
- Develop detailed shutdown and startup plans with operations and engineering teams.
- Coordinate contractors, vendors, equipment, and materials required for turnaround projects.
- Facilitate planning meetings to communicate turnaround scope, priorities, and milestones.
- Support turnaround-related procurement, requisitions, and project coordination activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Support all Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Behavioral-Based Safety, SafeStart, and other HES initiatives.
- Report and investigate safety, environmental, near-miss, and incident events.
- Ensure maintenance activities are performed safely while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance planning and work execution experience.
- Experience within a chemical manufacturing or industrial plant environment.
- Strong SAP maintenance planning experience.
- Experience creating and maintaining BOMs, Task Lists, and PM Plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications

Work Environment
- Onsite position within a specialty chemical manufacturing facility.
- Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM schedule.
- Requires movement throughout the manufacturing facility, including climbing stairs and ladders.
- Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
- Exposure to industrial equipment and hazardous chemical processing environments.
- Minimal travel required.
