Duties
- Assist with food production and meal preparation in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards
- Serve meals to residents with professionalism, courtesy, and a focus on customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food handling surfaces following strict hygiene protocols
- Adhere to workplace safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe lifting practices during heavy lifting tasks
- Support the dietary department by managing manual handling tasks efficiently and safely
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards for food safety and sanitation
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff to accommodate special diets and assist with feeding residents when needed
Experience
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred
- Culinary experience or background in food production and food service is advantageous
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment and understanding basic math for portioning and measurements
- Knowledge of dietary requirements for geriatric patients or individuals with special nutritional needs
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience working with diverse populations, including geriatric patients, is a plus
- Certifications such as CPR, food safety training, or dietary aide credentials are desirable but not mandatory
