Position Summary:
Under minimal supervision, the Machine Repair Journeyman (or Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman) is responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining all plant manufacturing equipment. This position performs complex troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and technical diagnostics to ensure optimal equipment performance and plant operations. The role may also involve training or mentoring apprentices, supplemental/contract labor, and peers as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild plant manufacturing equipment using blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
Set up and operate precision machines for part fabrication and repair.
Perform mechanical preventive maintenance (PM) on all plant equipment.
Assist in the installation, alignment, and adjustment of equipment and components.
Utilize rigging and heavy-moving equipment safely and effectively.
Perform welding (TIG, MIG, ARC, etc.) and other metalworking tasks as required.
Work at elevated positions using lifts or other approved equipment.
Train, mentor, and assist apprentices, contractors, and fellow mechanics.
Follow established safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and MIOSHA standards.
Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.

Knowledge of rigging, lifting, and safe material handling techniques.
Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
Demonstrated ability to perform welding and metal fabrication.
Must be physically capable of performing job duties, including heavy lifting.
Familiar with OSHA/MIOSHA safety standards and best practices.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of a four-year U.S. Department of Labor–approved apprenticeship program.
Possession of a Machine Repair Journeyman Card or Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman Card required.
